Can I stop my drip?

I have a drip in my tub faucet. I would do it myself and take as long as it took. But, I live in a building that only has one water valve; I have to turn EVERYONE'S water off to do the job. A plumber wanted $700 plus parts, to replace the cartridges. I don't really want to, but I have to do it myself. It seems pretty easy. BUT, I tried and failed at it years ago. I don't remember what, but one little detail (the wrong tool, a surprise detail, an unknown step) prevented me. I asked AI for a step by step and watched a few videos. It looks pretty cut and dry; I am confident I can do it - just like last time. I have all your standard tools: pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. Is there a special tool that will make the job easier? I need to get the exact same cartridge. At just any plumbing store? Before I start I will find the specific store I will go to that I know will have the right piece. How can I find it? What other details or advice should I know or might help me get this done as swiftly and painlessly as possible? submitted by /u/TStandsForTalent [link] [comments]
