Everything new in the Fisch Animal Update
The first update in Fisch, since the launch of the Second Sea, has arrived, and it's literally a jungle. Unlike most updates, this one will last for two weeks, and there's quite a bit to talk about. Here's Everything new in the Fisch Animal Update. Animal Pools in Fisch Screenshot by Destructoid The biggest new addition in this update is Animal Pools (Animal Hunt). These are, essentially, like raid battles in Fisch. When an Animal Pool spawns, an Animal Fish will appear somewhere in the sea with a protective bubble around it. Players need to fish around or inside this bubble in order to lower its HP to zero. You lower the bubble's HP by catching a fish. As you can see, the more players fish at the same time, the faster the protective bubble will disappear. Screenshot by Destructoid Once the bubble is gone, all players compete to catch the single Animal Fish. While this might seem similar to limited time fish, such as Great White Sharks, Hammerhead Sharks, and Whale Sharks, with an extra step, there are four main differences. There are 10 types of Animal Fish, and only one type will spawn at a time. As of writing this, only the Octophant (Elephant fish) can spawn in the Second Sea, and we assume a different animal will spawn every hour or so Each Animal Fish pool has its own bestiary. You don't really need to worry about this too much, because you'll likely complete these naturally as you work on catching the Animal Fish Screenshot by Destructoid You can actually spawn (and almost immediately re-spawn) an Animal Pool by spamming Tempest and Smokescreen Totems (you may also spawn a Sea Leviathan while doing this in the Second Sea) Each Animal Pool will only spawn in one of the two Seas. Make sure you have access to the Second Sea if you want to catch them all. It's still not clear how these Animal Pools rotate, but we'll update the guide as soon as we get more info. Abyssal Zenith nerf Screenshot by Destructoid Have you maybe tried to get to the Abyssal Zenith but ended up getting set back by those patrolling fish? Yup, we've been there too, and it definitely took us a few tries to reach the area. Now, this is much easier because the fish can't spot you so easily, you won't bump into as many invisible walls and you also won't be set back to the beginning. Additionally, it seems like it's much easier to get the lanterns from the Baby Anglersh. We can't really confirm this, because we already did this part, but we assume that you won't get eaten by a different Baby Anglerfish while you're trying to grab a lantern from a different one. Favoriting Fish for crafting fix Prior to the update, if you caught a fish you needed to craft something, you would obviously favorite it, so you don't sell it accidentally, right? Right, unfortunately, when you actually went to craft the item, you couldn't use these fish because they were... favorited. In other words, we had to unfavorite a fish so we could use it to craft something. Well, not anymore. Now, if you want to use a favorited fish for crafting, it will just work, without you needing the unfavorite the fish first. Sure, this only saves a few seconds, but it's a welcome fix anyway you look at it.
