You Can Now Catch Pokémon on Google
Google and Pokémon have teamed up to reveal a new Easter egg mini game. Fans can now catch all 151 Pokémon through Google Search in an elaborate hunt for the original characters from the Kanto region. Turning the Google browser into a fun Pokédex, the game is easily accessible on Androids and iPhones, only on the Google mobile app. The game does not work on the desktop at this moment. In order to start catching 'em all, players can begin by searching "151 wild Pokémon hiding on Google" for an introductory experience and a Poké Ball that pops up on the bottom-right corner. After logging in, the player can begin to search up various names of Pokémon of the Kanto region. When prompted with a Poké Ball, tap it and play the animation following the catch. With some characters like "Ditto," it may bring up the definition of the English word so users can apply "Pokémon" after the character name to prompt the Poké Ball. Players must Google each individual Pokémon in order to catch 'em all. However, when it comes to Legendary and Mythical Pokémon like the Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, and Mew, these require Master Balls and must be unlocked in a specific order. Players can only catch them when they prove the Pokémon's prowess by catching other creatures that came before it on the Pokédex. Master Balls are unlocked as players collection more Pokémon. After five, 20, 50, 100 and 150 Pokémon, the player will receive one Master Ball after each milestone and be prompted a specific Legendary or Mythical Pokémon. With each Pokémon found, it is added to the player's virtual Pokédex under their Google account to track their progress. Encouraging fans to test their knowledge, Google and Pokémon have teamed up for a nostalgic celebration, giving a nod to their OG fans.
