Filmarks Celebrates 25 Years of 'Battle Royale' With New Collaboration

Filmarks is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Battle Royale with a collaborative collection and a re-release of Kinji Fukasaku's iconic movie. The capsule is comprised of three T-shirts that pay homage to the Japanese dystopian action film. All three arrive in a stark black backdrop with the Battle Royale logo either on the chest or on the upper back. The first piece is designed with the words "BR Law" that the class teacher, Kitano, wrote on the blackboard, followed by the scythe that Mitsuko uses during her time alive and, finally, a more simple Battle Royale offering with a print of the film's prologue.Battle Royale was released in 2000 and was based on the 1999 novel of the same name by Koushun Takami. It followed a junior high school class that was randomly chosen to participate in a deadly, brutal and violent game called Battle Royale — an act created by a totalitarian Japanese government to curb juvenile delinquency following a recession that will only see one winner standing.Check out the collection above. The Battle Royale x Filmarks collaboration is available for pre-order from April to April 7 via the official webstore, while Battle Royale will return to Japanese theaters for its 25th anniversary on April 4.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
