Made my own king sized bed frame!
Replaced my decade old IKEA queen frame and with my own king sized bed frame. I used three-quarter inch birch plywood for facade of frame and headboard. 2x4s for legs, rails, and middle support. Bought the $50 king sized ikea slats because they were much cheaper and better quality than buying 10- 1x4s from Home Depot. Painted everything with twos coats primer and sherwin Williams emerald urethane trim paint. I didn’t keep exact pricing. But total cost was about $300-$400. I already had a variety of tools that I used throughout the process that made the job easier. Chopsaw, rotary saw, drill, various square edges, a. triangles, levels etc. I borrowed pocket hole jig for inside corners. Overall 8.5/10 satisfaction. There was just no way that I was gonna pay $2k for a bed frame. This was a lot of work and I hope to never move or replace this bed. submitted by /u/joebrosb [link] [comments]
