Magic Chess: Go Go (MCGG), a new auto-battler title from the creators of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, will launch globally on May 28th, 2025.
The game’s worldwide launch coincides with the release of its second season for select regions that gained access during its APAC debut in February.
Interest in the launch of MOONTON Games‘ latest mobile title has gained traction throughout 2025, with over 20m pre-registrations recorded ahead of its global launch. Similar to auto battler games like Dota 2’s Auto Chess and Teamfight Tactics, Magic Chess: Go Go uses a chessboard as the battleground for eight players to compete in player-versus-player (PvP) competitions.
The title has already held its first esports event following its launch in the APAC region. The Magic Chess: Go Go Indonesia Community Tournament invited 512 players to compete for a $5,100 (~£3,802) prize pool.
“The community’s response to our APAC Grand Launch has been extremely positive,” said Gao ‘Skyhook’ Chong, MCGG Producer at MOONTON Games.
“Besides our rapidly growing user base, we’ve seen huge engagement from the content creator community. We’ve also kick-started a growing competitive ecosystem, with our first competitive esports event in Indonesia.”
Set in the universe of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Season 2: Blessing of Embers introduces new Synergies which provide players with a range of buffs that activate during a match. The update will also introduce the Blessing mechanic to add a further layer of strategy to gameplay.
A Period of Growth for MOONTON Games
With the global debut of Magic Chess: Go Go imminent, MOONTON Games continues to develop its gaming, and esports, ecosystem globally.
In March 2025, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s US publishing operations were moved to Skystone following the game’s temporary ban earlier in the year.
For this year’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s Mid Season Cup, it was also revealed that Japan will return as a national representative for the esports event, alongside the debut of a slot for Vietnam.
