Managing fleas?

Sorry for being a different format, I figured yall didn't want to look at pictures of a horrifying amount of fleas in my parents carpeted room. I need ideas on the best budget way to remove fleas from a thick carpet. Parents are elderly and decided instead of getting the pets medicine from "big pharma" to treat a mild case of fleas the outside cat transferred to the inside cat, they'd just try homeopathic remedies on the cat. Obviously didn't work, I can't afford to blow whatever Orkin would want, but if I walk in the room without anything covering my legs there's probably close to 100 fleas on each leg with just one trip across the room. There's a door that leads to outside attached to the room, and a fair bit of nonporous furniture in the room I can move outside for treatment/burning if need be. Online it says that adults can live for a few weeks without feeding, and that the pupae/larva/eggs can live for more than 100 days before they're adults without feeding. I was thinking of wearing full PPE, duct taping the joints and then doing reverse duct tape to catch anything from the knee down. I was thinking, once all the furniture is out of the room, doing a flea spray all the way across the carpet, then laying down a painters tarp/24x24x6mil plastic tarp and taping all the joints, followed by another round of flea spray/flea bomb and letting the room marinate for a few days. Indoor cat is confined to their room so the rest of the house that isn't carpeted doesn't have the same level of flea problem as their carpeted room. Cat will be taken to vet and bathed/medicated for fleas before and during cleanup. Thoughts? I'll unseal it eventually and add another sheet of thick plastic/harbor freight foam floor tiles over the top to keep the carpet contained indefinitely, but ideally ripping the whole carpet out isn't an option right now. submitted by /u/T-N-A-T-B-G-OFFICIAL [link] [comments]
