Pokémon Scarlet and Violet finally looks playable on Switch 2
Game Freak and Nintendo have finally released a short trailer showing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet running on the Nintendo Switch 2, and it looks like an entirely different game. The 30-second trailer was put on the Nintendo Today app this morning and follows a few screenshots released by Game Freak a few weeks ago that showed a bunch of new Pokémon. Giving trainers a first look at the Paldea region running on the Switch 2, following a Switch 2 day one update set to release on June 5. https://twitter.com/SerebiiNet/status/1929556160597667952 For anyone who has played the Nintendo Switch versions of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the difference is astounding when you watch the trailer and then go to those areas to see how the game runs right now. It seems like the game is running at 60 FPS with very little frame drops, and the amount of Pokémon spawning in some areas is completely staggering. Casseroya Lake was the part that really showcased just how better the game runs on Switch 2. Anyone who goes to that area in the Switch version knows the game chugs when spawning in Pokémon and is an overhaul nightmare to roam around. So, seeing the 20+ Pokémon and the character freely going around the area with little drops has sold me on this update. Though it also makes me a little salty that this isn't how the game runs normally. A part of me still wants to see it to believe it, and when I get time from playing all the new games coming out this week, I feel I'll need to jump back in and give this update a test drive. Especially when Shiny hunting for some Pokémon that were a nightmare to try and find. The trailer also doesn't show off any of the DLC areas, so I'm curious what those also look like. Either way, it looks like a step in the right direction and looks to finally make the games play better than ever before. Bring on the new system!
