Shower valve sort of "popped" when turning off - now what?

Handy people, talk to me about this. We turned off the shower and it felt like something popped or came loose. Pulling the knob out didn't turn it back on. Thinking it was just the knob itself, I took it apart and got to here. Moving that stem in and out no longer does anything. I think we need to replace this whole valve, so I'm probably out of my league and need a real plumber, but from what I can see there may not be adequate access without destroying the shower wall. What am I missing? submitted by /u/ourtime99 [link] [comments]
