Missouri is set to join the growing list of US states with legalised sports betting, as regulators confirm that sports wagering will officially launch on December 1st, 2025.

The move comes after years of legislative debate and positions Missouri to capitalise on a market that has rapidly expanded nationwide since the Supreme Court struck down the federal ban on sports betting in 2018.

The Missouri Gaming Commission will oversee the rollout, with both retail and online sportsbooks expected to go live simultaneously.

Under the new law, each of the state’s 13 licensed casinos will be permitted to offer in-person betting and partner with up to three online sportsbook operators.

This structure could bring as many as 39 online betting platforms to Missouri, giving residents a wide array of choices for placing wagers on professional and collegiate sporting events.

The law sets a minimum age of 21 for all sports betting participants and includes provisions for responsible gambling, such as self-exclusion programs and mandatory operator contributions to problem gambling funds.

The state will tax sports betting revenue at 10%, with the majority of funds earmarked for education and responsible gaming initiatives.

Missouri’s entry into the sports betting market is expected to generate significant economic benefits, including new tax revenue and job creation.

Industry analysts project that the state could see hundreds of millions of dollars in annual wagers, following trends observed in neighboring states like Illinois and Iowa.

The launch date of December 1st gives operators, regulators, and technology providers a clear timeline to finalise licensing, compliance checks and system integrations.

The MGC has stated that it will provide regular updates on approved operators and platforms as the go-live date approaches.

With the legalisation of sports wagering, Missouri residents will soon have the opportunity to legally bet on their favourite teams and events, marking a new chapter in the state’s gaming landscape.
