French esports organisation Team Vitality has held its position at the top of Counter-Strike‘s Valve Regional Standings (VRS) for another month.
Team Vitality’s number one spot follows impressive victories at Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Melbourne and BLAST Rivals.
According to the VRS update published on May 5th, 2025, Team Vitality has earned 2,117 points to cement its place at the top of the global standings. Compared to the previous standings update, the organisation has earned 43 points, putting it 247 points clear of German organisation MOUZ in second place.
Team Vitality has had a dominant start to the 2025 Counter-Strike season. Its victory at BLAST Rivals is the organisation’s fifth in a row and marks a 25-match unbeaten streak, the second-longest in the history of Valve’s first-person shooter title.
The longest win streak in Counter-Strike is held by Ninjas in Pyjamas, which won 60 matches without a loss between August 2012 and April 2013.
The May 5th update to the VRS impacts the teams that will be invited for the inaugural FISSURE Playground event taking place at the Sava Center in Belgrade, Serbia. The top 16 teams from the May 5th update will compete for a share of $425,000 (~£317,353) in prize money.
Can Team Vitality Extend Its Streak?
With several international tournaments taking place, the chances of Team Vitality extending its stint at the top of the leaderboards is high.
The next two months are extremely busy for Counter-Strike esports, with several notable teams attending IEM Dallas. Team Vitality will compete in Dallas, Texas from May 19th to 25th as a prelude to the BLAST.tv Austin Major taking place from June 2nd to 22nd.
The Austin Major is the third Major event of the Counter-Strike 2 era. At the 2024 Perfect World Major, Team Vitality scored a top-eight placement before embarking on its current win streak.
