Using an infrared paint stripper on vintage tiles?
Hello! I’m not especially handy, but I grew up doing random cheap DIY projects, so I have the spirit. Our house was previously owned by my partner’s mom (a landlord) who had the beautiful vintage tiles in the bathroom painted over with a really ugly beige textured paint, and unfortunately it was done pretty well since the paint is quite solidly on there. I’ve made some progress with Citristrip, but it’s a very long process and almost the whole room is tile. The hours of scraping were not treating my body well and I have a long way to go. I just came across an iR paint stripper being sold secondhand for $30, and it looks really cool! There’s lots of other areas in the house I could get use out of it like the goopy white paint on the doorframes. But I did see that it’s capable of breaking glass, which leads me to wonder if it has the potential to break tiles as well. I haven’t been able to find anyone talking about it, so does anyone happen to know what would happen? Is it a bad idea? I’d really hate to break them and I’d have no idea how to fix it if I did. The picture is just what I’ve been able to get done so far with Citristrip. submitted by /u/ollieonyxart [link] [comments]
