Weird Home Electrical Issues
Last night, while we were sleeping, the power went out. I got up to investigate and found that only half of the outlets were working; the rest were completely off. When I checked the breaker panel, none of the breakers had tripped. However, the breaker for the side of the house without power was extremely hot, and the main shut-off switch was also hot. Our house is approximately 30 years old. I’m curious about what might be causing this issue. Additionally, when I turn on the air conditioner, the fan runs, but the air doesn’t get cold. When I turn on the stove, the burners don’t heat up, even though the stove has power. I’m confused about what could be causing these problems. An electrician is scheduled to inspect tomorrow. I’m fairly handy, but I’ve never encountered this issue before. The main breaker is a challenger 125 amp 2 pole E16248 and the other one was a Eaton BD 1515 2 pole 15 amp breaker. Thanks in advance for your help. submitted by /u/techmaverick_x [link] [comments]
