What is this plastic vent on the sink and can it be removed?
We have an old Maytag Performa dishwasher from the early 2000s. There is this plastic vent thing that sits on the sink. The drain line from the dishwasher goes to it at a Y underneath and then another line goes out to the drain. Is this thing really needed?
