Air sealed crawlspace, still have cold floors
Hello, I've been watching a lot of crawl space ninja and other YouTube videos trying to learn as much as I can about my crawlspace and how to address the cold floor above it. For background the living room is the only room without a full basement, it sits above a 30" crawlspace. A few years ago we had the whole house air sealed and added attic insulation. Part of this included air sealing the rim joists with 2" spray foam and they sprayed all of the crawlspace walls down to the dirt floor as well. There was an improvement on comfort for the whole house and we see the energy savings but our living room floor is still cold. There is no subfloor insulation anywhere in the home. The floors are hardwood throughout. The rest of the house has moderately cold floors in the winter, but not extreme, except for the living room, which will chill you very quickly even with socks and shoes/slippers on. There are two access points for the crawlspace, one filled mostly with duct work and the other is partially blocked by loose stone to prevent the cats from entering the area. The crawlspace itself is dry, we don't have water issues or mold concerns. We run a dehumidifier in the basement area but there is probably limited air exchange from the basement to the crawlspace since there are only two gaps for access. What can/should I do to address this issue this summer so we don't suffer again next winter? What questions can I answer to give you a better understanding on my particular situation? submitted by /u/grilledchzisbestchz [link] [comments]
