Marvel Rivals has released its sixth Dev Vision video, covering everything coming with Season 2.5 starting May 30th, 2025.

From Ultron’s highly anticipated debut to new team-ups, maps, and more, these are the biggest highlights revealed during Marvel Rivals’ latest update.

New Character: Ultron

Marvel Rivals antagonist, Ultron, makes his debut in Season 2.5 as a Strategist capable of flight. Not much was revealed about his kit. However, gameplay clips include a charged-up laser primary fire and a Uni-Beam team-up with Iron Man.

During the Dev Vision, Guangyun ‘GuangGuang‘ Chen, Marvel Rivals Creative Director at NetEase Games, said: “He’s a strategist who can provide consistent healing to his allies. However, he can also unleash devastating energy beams against enemies.

“His unique primary weapon introduces an all-new shooting experience! And as a flying Strategist, Ultron opens up fresh possibilities for your aerial line-ups.”

New Mode: Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol

A new limited-time mode was unveiled called Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol, which will be arriving in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 on June 6th, 2025.

During the Dev Vision vlog, GuangGuang said: “In this mode, six players can choose their own hero lineups, craft unique builds, and enhance their heroes’ traits. Then, engage in battle against other players for the chance to claim victory.

“This mode is an experiment of how we can fulfil everyone’s fantasies of Marvel Super Heroes teaming up. Players can take control of a wider array of heroes and amplify their stats and abilities.”

Stadium in Overwatch 2 and Teamfight Tactics in League of Legends are notable examples of modes that have gone on to create their own communities within the game. So it would be interesting to see whether this mode proves to be a smash hit, and whether it could become a permanent addition to the game.
