Cement backer rod width
I have a crack in my patio that is 14' long x 1 3/8" wide that I'm wanting to seal. My question is with the backer rod. What I've been reading is pretty consistent in saying the backer rod needs to be 25% to 30% wider than the crack so it can be jammed in and make a seal on the sides, which gets me to roughly 1 3/4" wide. What I'm running into is the widest backer rod I'm finding locally available is 1". It sounds dumb, but can I get two of them, and cut one to be 3/4" wide, and put both in next to each other on top of the sand? It seems that it should work, but wanted opinions before I purchase any materials for this project. submitted by /u/jrbless [link] [comments]
