Destiny 2 heads to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars ‘homage’ Renegades expansion this winter
Bungie is partnering with Lucasfilm to bring Destiny 2 players a uniquely Star Wars-inspired experience this December with the upcoming Renegades expansion. While the studio was ready to show off just a teaser of what players could expect, the news is like a dream come true for some fans. Believe it or not, this isn't the first time Destiny 2 and Star Wars have intersected. In February 2025, Bungie made a set of Star Wars-themed cosmetics available through the Eververse Store. No one would have guessed that this would be a precursor to an entire expansion taking heavy inspiration, and even lightsabers, from the iconic franchise. The Renegades expansion is due out on December 2, with a more complete look coming during a planned showcase on September 9. So far, reception to the news has generally appeared positive, which admittedly, is goodwill Bungie could use right now. On X, @MrchingKnght28, generally sums the vibe up, saying, "NO FREAKING WAY." If players choose to pre-order the ultimate edition of the Year of Prophecy, which includes the Renegades expansion, they'll get immediate access to three unique cosmetics (one for each class). Sticking with the Star Wars theme, Warlocks get Kylo Ren, Titans get Darth Vader, and Hunters get General Grievous. Guardians will also get a bonus treat in the form of access to the New Land Beyond Exotic sniper rifle.
