DIY soundproofing this wall?
I'm looking for feedback from people who have DIY'd something like this before. I'm wanting to reduce the sound coming through the wall that faces the street. My thought is to slap up some mass loaded vinyl on the existing drywall, then green glue and attach another layer of drywall. For the window, I'm hoping to cut 1/2" plexiglass and friction fit with weather stripping into each window frame. That leaves me with bringing the window sill and electrical outlet flush with the new wall. Thoughts on my plan? Am I missing anything? And how effective will it be to block out street noise?
