Before its release on PlayStation 5, the information provided on the PlayStation store page for Infinity Nikki stated that five friends could play together online. Of course, this information was removed not long after the store page itself was added, but it was there, and that sparks hope. Similarly, there is now a Steam page for Infinity Nikki, although there is no solidified release date for the game on the platform. This page, as with any other Steam store page, lists some of the features that will be included so that you can sort through similar games on the store.  Screenshot by Destructoid On the Infinity Nikki store page, it’s listed as a “Cross-Platform Multiplayer” game. Sharing Snapshots is nice, but those hourglasses are finicky at best and it’s near impossible to ensure your photos get sent to your friend's game, with the process being entirely random and seeming to focus on showing recent photos over friends' photos. This can be incredibly frustrating, especially if you want to take group photos with friends. As stated previously, it is very difficult to find your friend's photos while wandering around Miraland, and can sometimes take a lot of reloading before they show up.  When you’ve done this, you’ll then be able to share it as a Snapshot yourself, and add them as a friend if you want to. On the Infinity Nikki store page, it’s listed as a “Cross-Platform Multiplayer” game. This could be a sign of new multiplayer gameplay to come, or it could be referencing the severely limited multiplayer aspects currently included in the game.

Currently, there are only really four multiplayer aspects in Infinity Nikki:

  • Add friends
  • Share adventure moments with friends through the Pear-Pal
  • Share Snapshots taken around Miraland
  • Take a group shot with someone who left a Snapshot

While adding friends and sending messages is a nice feature, it is the bare minimum type of multiplayer gameplay. Sharing Snapshots is nice, but those hourglasses are finicky at best and it’s near impossible to ensure your photos get sent to your friend's game, with the process being entirely random and seeming to focus on showing recent photos over friends' photos.
