Madelyn Cline is no stranger to the public eye. In 2020, the actor became mainstream for her role as Sarah Cameron in the hit Netflix series Outer Banks. This breakout role changed Cline's life, as she gained a big fanbase thanks to the series. Since then, fans have been obsessed with her love life. 

The 27-year-old actor used to date her Outer Banks co-star Chase Stokes, who plays John Booker Routledge, who is also her character's love interest. The pair's undeniable chemistry in the show had fans shipping their characters in the show and real life. The couple launched their relationship in an Instagram post in June 2020, which has since been deleted and weren't secretive about their feelings for the other throughout their relationship.

They were open about how their relationship organically evolved from co-workers to a relationship based on something more. After a year together, the couple split in November 2021 and remained amicable since then. Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes met on set while filming season one of Outer Banks in April 2019 where the two play love interests John B. and Sarah Cameron. This, however, wasn't the first time the two had worked on a similar project as they both appeared on Stranger Things. They never crossed paths as Stokes played a small role in season one, and Cline played a small role in season two. 

Their chemistry in the Netflix series was palpable and fans began to ship them in their real lives as well as in the show. The pair weren't afraid to be flirtatious with each other on social media, sending fans into a frenzy, when finally in the summer of 2020, Stokes posted a picture of them at the beach with the caption "cats outta the bag." After the relationship was confirmed, both actors were expressive and honest about their feelings for each other, and at the MTV Movie and TV Awards 2021 shared a televised kiss after winning Best Kiss. 

In November 2021, the couple called it quits, citing busy schedules as the reason for why they had grown apart. Cline and Stokes have remained friends and professional co-workers as they continue to on Outer Banks. 

Ross Butler (2021)

Following her breakup with Stokes, Cline was rumored to have sparked a romantic relationship with Ross Butler. TMZ shared a video of the two eating dinner in Milan in September 2021 while they attended Milan Fashion Week. Butler responded to the circulating rumors in TMZ where he said the pair are just friends. “I dance with a lot of people,” he said. “Just friends.”

While there seemed to be no truth to the rumors, the two added more flames to the fire as they shamelessly continued their flirting on social media, specifically in November 2021 when Butler left a drooling and hot face emoji on a post of Cline's photos for a shoot with The Hollywood Reporter. However, there was never any confirmation on dating here.

Zack Bia (2021-2022)

Cline and DJ Zack Bia were rumored to be an item in December 2021 by US Weekly after the two were spotted at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California. They were also photographed attending a Lakers Game in Los Angeles to celebrate Cline's birthday. Both Bia and Cline played coy with the status of their relationship and never officially labeled what they were to each other. As Bia said in an interview with BFFs With Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards, they were just hanging out and keeping things casual.  The DJ has been linked to singers Madison Beer, whom he dated from 2017 to 2019, and Olivia Rodrigo in 2022. 

Jackson Guthy (2022)

In July 2022, Cline was believed to be linked to Jackson Guthy, the lead singer of North of Nine after the couple was photographed while out on a date in Malibu, California. Their relationship wasn't officially confirmed until December 2022 by The Cut during an interview with the young actor after she revealed that she lived in a "Malibu home she shares with her boyfriend and dogs.” 

Guthy also confirmed the relationship with an Instagram story of the pair celebrating her twenty-fifth birthday. The two were supportive of each other's careers and Guthy was Cline's date to the season three premiere of Outer Banks where they let their PDA run wild. The love bubble burst in July 2023 when Cline unfollowed Guthy on Instagram which sparked breakup rumors, and the two never addressed their split. The breakup was officially confirmed in September 2023 when Cline was spotted out and about with a new man: none other than Pete Davidson. 

Pete Davidson (2023-2024)

Cline and The Saturday Night Live alum were first spotted together in the Fall of 2023 grabbing breakfast at the Beverly Hills Hotel. She was also seen in Las Vegas attending the comedian's stand-up set and were spotted with one another for the next several months. Both parties decided to keep their relationship under wraps, especially after Davidson's high-profile relationship with Grammy-winning singer Ariana Grande. 

Their relationship ended in early 2024 after their last public appearance in Philadelphia. Cline confirmed their split in a September 2024 interview with Bustle. She declined to reveal the specifics of their relationship and seemed to poke fun at the SNL alum by saying, “The jokes write themselves,” when asked about their relationship. 

Austin Butler (2025)

Cline and Austin Butler are rumored to be in the early stages of a relationship after the pair were spotted at dinner together. DeuxMoi, a celebrity gossip blog, broke the news via an Instagram post after receiving an anonymous tip. The Elvis actor appears to be joining the dating pool following his split from longtime girlfriend Kaia Gerber. There is yet to be confirmation on Cline and Butler dating, but check back for updates.
