Filling a hole under my front walk

I recently discovered this weird hole under my front walkway, and I’m thinking about how to deal with it. (I don’t think it’s an animal burrow, it’s in a location we walk by every day and when I first discovered it there weren’t any signs of digging at the surface.) I measured, and the hole seems to be about 3 feet long and 6-12” wide. I was planning to fill it up by pouring concrete into it; I haven’t done anything with concrete before, so I wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything. Specifically, I was planning to rent an electric cement mixer, use an 8” sonotube cut in half as a chute, and put a couple of boards across the mouth of the hole to act as a form. I’d put down a tarp to catch any drips. Does that sound like a good plan? Is there anything non-obvious I should know about mixing and pouring concrete? submitted by /u/the_other_paul [link] [comments]
