How do you source garage door parts for DIY repairs?
I have a 16' door that has been damaged twice, and due to cracks and panel weakness will barely open without collapsing inward as it moves on up the "bend" in the track. I would like to replace the top panel, and the lengthwise support beam that is screwed into it that is warped. Home depot seems to only sell entire door install kits, including all the hardware, springs, track, etc. I don't need or want any of that stuff. Have any of you had success doing such a repair yourself? How did you find a replacement panel? Find any mfgs that would ship a panel directly? Are there such things as direct to consumer garage door parts distributors? A web search in my area only really returns installer companies, none of which advertise part sales. I don't want to pay someone for such 30 minute job and REALLY don't want to replace the whole door for 1 damaged panel. submitted by /u/ThrowbackDrinks [link] [comments]
