During yesterday’s Grand Final, Team Liquid defeated opponent Tundra Esports (3-1) to become PGL Wallachia Season 3 champions.

Taking place in Bucharest’s PGL Studio from March 8th-16th, the Dota 2 tournament saw 16 teams compete for a $1m (~£771,000) prize pool.

Tournament organiser, PGL, announced Wallachia Season 3-5 for 2025 following the circuit’s first two seasons in May and October last year. The competition’s third iteration featured a modified swiss-system Group Stage followed by a double-elimination Playoffs bracket.

Team Liquid was among eight teams directly invited to Wallachia Season 3. Alongside Team Spirit, Liquid were the only teams among the eight Playoffs participants to emerge undefeated from the Group Stage.

On March 13th, Team Liquid continued its dominant performance with an undefeated upper-bracket run against Aurora Gaming (2-1), Xtreme Gaming (2-0) and Team Falcons (2-0). With the Grand Final victory over Tundra Esports, the esports organisation adds yet another championship title to its stacked Dota 2 portfolio.

Competing in Dota esports since 2013, Liquid holds two The International titles for winning the game’s most prestigious esports event in 2017 and 2024.

For Jonáš ‘SaberLight’ Volek, who joined the team in September last year, Wallachia Season 3 was his first tier 1 LAN victory. According to esports data platform Esports Charts, 342,340 peak viewers witnessed the player’s achievement.

Founded in 2000, global esports organisation Team Liquid competes in numerous esports titles, including VALORANT, League of Legends (LoL) and Counter-Strike. Last month, the company also expanded into chess by signing Fabiano Caruana and Magnus Carlsen.

Liquid’s LoL roster recently won the LTA 2025 Cross Conference event, qualifying for the game’s first international tournament of the year, called First Stand. However, the squad was eliminated in the initial Round Robin Stage.
