How does the Photon Blaster work in R.E.P.O.?
Wheeling around in your new C.A.R.T. tank may not be a viable option in double-digits (especially if you're driving and manning the turrets solo), but that's where the Photon Blaster comes in. Take the power of a tank in your hand by wielding the handheld version of the Cart Laser, and one-shot lethal enemies that dare to cross into your domain. Precision is key, so you'd best get to aim training, for heads will roll when Blaster meets forehead. Here is a quick guide on how to use the Photon Blaster in R.E.P.O. How to use the Photon Blaster in R.E.P.O. Screenshot by Destructoid Setting you back $46-48K, the Photon Blaster is a powerful firearm, capable of one-shotting monsters. The only monster it's incapable of killing with a single projectile is the Trudge (what a shocker). But this weapon is more temperamental than others, as it deals consistent damage only if your target is directly in front of you. The Photon Blaster has four charges, where it takes an entire Energy Crystal to replenish three individual charges. This weapon has a slight wind-up animation before it shoots and fires for approximately three seconds. This cannot be interrupted when you press E to use, for putting it back in your inventory will harm you instead. Similar to other firearms, the Blaster can accidentally fire if you're disarmed by a monster, but if a semibot or enemy walks over it, the Blaster will do as its name suggests. I believe this firearm deals 50 damage per connected shot, just like the Cart Laser. This will also knock back enemies, but won't stun them. Rather, any undefeated enemy will immediately get back up, but their attack mode will reset to patrol unless they see you. This gives you time to escape if you weren't planning on killing the target or you've run out of charge. We've noticed that charging this weapon to full still shows the limp gun animation, making it difficult to aim with until you fire again. Be sure not to unnecessarily waste a charge when this happens. While aiming with the Blaster, you can move it horizontally and vertically mid-blast to adjust your aim on multiple targets. The goal here isn't to kill, but to knockback enemies like the Boltzap, being a more precise weapon than the many-arrowed harpoon variation. Due to its limited ammunition (resembling the Shotgun), it's best to use this weapon on monsters with the highest health pools (Headman, Clown, and Robe), just to get them out of the way so you can loot in peace. Just make sure you are continuously aiming at the monster as the weapon fires. The Blaster has excellent range and provides more room for error against smaller, more agile creatures, but it will deal lower damage the further away a target is. So wait for an enemy to get within a two-meter range before you blast 'em. The post How does the Photon Blaster work in R.E.P.O.? appeared first on Destructoid.
