Well, no more! The Phase Bridge is here to help, so you may skip the upgrade farming and go straight to climbing or crossing to your heart's desire. But it comes with a catch, for nothing is ever free, and the cost of Energy Crystals is dear. Here's how to use the Phase Bridge in R.E.P.O. How does the Phase Bridge work in R.E.P.O.? You cannot alter the length outside of extending it with E. The bridge is fiddly to angle for your target destination. Through experimentation, we've found it's easiest to lift the bridge towards the ceiling and continuously press E, holding the item over the target until it's further than the target edge. You can extend the bridge indefinitely, but we don't recommend doing this. The longer the Bridge goes, the faster its charge bar drains. Screenshot by Destructoid The bridge can be placed at an angle (e.g., to reach the secret shop), acting as a ramp rather than a horizontal bridge to cross a gap. You can place it against the railing of another floor, avoiding the long-winded process of moving large valuables up or down stairs and the rigmarole of someone standing at the bottom as another hands the valuable over the edge. You can also use this to reach places where Double Jump or a Drone would typically be needed. Create multiple bridges with the same one, and avoid monsters altogether (especially flying entities like the Spewer and Headman) by reaching balconies and corridors that are normally out of reach. The Phase Bridge grows more valuable the further you are in R.E.P.O., as a late-game item. So far, we've found the bridge is most helpful on McJannek Station (skipping the winding paths of the station that lead to death pits) and Swiftbroom Academy (can do what Cauldrons do but better). Using the bridge also means you skip the Tumble Launch/fallen down animation, and it's a lot quieter to jump on and off compared to the map's default structures. Avoid touching the bridge anywhere but its base (where the hand icon is present). It can get bugged easily and glitch into surfaces. If the bridge is too long or you accidentally cause a bug, grab it wherever you can and immediately press an inventory slot key to reset it. While you can extend it indefinitely, the bridge has to be above ground and not touching anything, so it may extend. The bridge will turn red instead of blue if something is blocking its path. Once drained, the bridge will suddenly close, reverting back to its original state. A single Energy Crystal restores five out of six bars in its depleted charge.
