Sinister Cloth is a High Rank material in Monster Hunter Wilds, and you’ll need it to build one of the coolest and best armor sets in the game: Death Stench. Unfortunately, Sinister Cloth is very rare, and obnoxious to purchase once you actually do find some.
In this Monster Hunter Wilds guide, we’ll walk you through how to get Sinister Cloth and how to refresh Item Trade inventories until you find some.
How to get Sinister Cloth in Monster Hunter Wilds

Sinister Cloth is an item you’ll need to trade for in Monster Hunter Wilds. We’ve seen Sinister Cloth show up in two different vendor inventories, each of which require a different form of rare payment:
- Kilama: 1 Great Windward Aloe for 1 Sinister Cloth
- Gawdygog: 10 Ancient Wyvern Coins for 1 Sinister Cloth
Ancient Wyvern Coins are a rare resource you can chance upon during your adventure, and Great Windward Aloe only appears as a rare event collectible in the Windward Plains. Make sure you have enough of these on hand to purchase some Sinister Cloth each time you visit Nata for the Item Trade.
These vendors refresh their inventory from time to time and can sell some very valuable items — like Sinister Cloth. You can visit all of these vendors in person, or you can simply speak to Nata in any base camp to browse their inventories.
Unfortunately, while these vendors can sell Sinister Cloth, they don’t always sell Sinister Cloth, and you can go multiple refreshes without seeing one. But you can manually reset the vendor as often as you want to increase your chances of seeing Sinister Cloth.
How to refresh the Item Trade inventory in Monster Hunter Wilds

To force an Item Trade inventory refresh, all you need to do is rest in your tent — conveniently located mere feet from where Nata sits.
Find the BBQ Menu (it’s the one middle icon) and select the rest button once you get there. This will open up a menu that prompts what kind of weather you want and what time you want to skip to. Select the weather and season of your choice (we always pick inclement and evening) and spend the 300 Guild Points to rest.
After you regain control of your character, walk back over to Nata and check through the inventories. All of his Item Trade vendors should now have different inventories. And one of them, hopefully, will be selling Sinister Cloth. If there still isn’t any Sinister Cloth, repeat this process until some eventually comes up.
Keep in mind that this process can take a long time, and that you’ll need to spend 300 Guild Points every time you do a reset.
