Mortar on brick steps needs replacing

Hi everyone, Looking to fix this as the warmer weather approaches. Have done some research and see that I should remove the old and potentially use a foam filler due to the size of the gap. Can anyone please recommend me what to use for that, and additionally, what to buy to apply to seal this up? Would I use something like this? https://www.lowes.com/pd/LOCTITE-PL-Concrete-Non-Sag-10-oz-Gray-Paintable-Polyurethane-Caulk/1002657552?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-pnt-_-google-_-lia-_-221-_-caulk-_-1002657552-_-0&placeholder=null&ds_rl=1286981 The bricks themselves have no gaps anywhere. It's just between the stair and the bricks. Age is about 25 years old. Thanks! Processing img o5ldrcj31yne1... Processing img v9zymgj31yne1...
