After placing them on the three rope winches, you'll be able to rotate them, letting you guide their light to various wooden plank walls surrounding the area. Screenshot by Destructoid To find the strange shadow, pick one of the three winches and redirect their light until it hits one of these walls. I used the one on the opposite side of where the Forgotten is standing. Doing this causes the shadow to fly away, confirming its existence. Now that you've found the shadow, it's time to trap it. How to trap the shadow using Pixie Dust Lanterns in Disney Dreamlight Valley Trapping the strange shadow requires directing all three lanterns to one spot. Our goal is to find a place that doesn't concentrate the light too much or make it too dim. The best spot for this is right next to The Forgotten on a large wooden plank wall. More specifically, it's a section that's next to a stack of barrels. All three lights can be positioned comfortably here without becoming too dim or concentrated, allowing you to rotate them freely until they reach this spot. Screenshot by Destructoid At first, all three lanterns will point straight toward the pirate ship within Skull Rock. This excludes whichever one you chose to shine to find the shadow. Here's the number of times you need to rotate each one: Winch in front of the Forgotten: Two times Winch next to the gate: Three times Winch next to the cave's ramp: Four times These numbers will change depending on which winch you activated in the previous objective. Thankfully, you won't need to reset the puzzle if you miss the spot initially. Just keep rotating each lantern until they hit this place to summon the shadow figure and progress the Shadows on the Wall quest. Once you shine all three lights on this location, the shadow will appear, letting you talk to it to advance the mission. At least, you can try tospeak to them, but you'll quickly notice an obstacle that prevents you from doing so. Until you advance through the quest and discover why, though, you can rejoice in knowing that you learned how to navigate this light puzzle to trap the shadow.
