How to unlock Alice in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Disney Dreamlight Valley Alice

Alongside the introduction of Disney Dreamlight Valley's Alice in Wonderland Realm, we also have Alice herself and the Cheshire Cat here to get involved in village shenanigans. While the Cheshire Cat needs some time to get up to some mischief, Alice is on board to join as long as you meet a few prerequisites.

How to invite Alice to your Disney Dreamlight Valley village

Inviting Alice to your Disney Dreamlight Valley world requires unlocking the Alice in Wonderland Realm and completing its storyline. You need to finish four total quests, which you'll unlock immediately after heading into Dream castle, finding the Alice in Wonderland Realm door, and giving Merlin 15,000 Dreamlight.

Before accessing any of these missions, you'll need to unlock the Alice in Wonderland realm door. Rather than unlocking the door right away, however, this causes a white rabbit to run around the castle and village. Chasing it causes you to investigate and fall into a rabbit hole, leading you to the realm.

Unlocking the realm and chasing the rabbit starts the Wonders of Wonderland quest. From here, you'll travel through the realm, meeting Alice and the Cheshire Cat along the way. After some time, you'll encounter the Queen's Maze and Teeny, Tiny Problems that focus on Alice's side of this storyline, while the finale, Leaving Wonderlands, wraps everything up. Upon finishing the realm's final quest, you'll build a house for Alice, allowing you to welcome her into Dreamlight Valley.

How to complete Wonders of Wonderland

The Wonders of Wonderland quest starts right after you unlock the Alice in Wonderland realm. You'll spot a white rabbit running around, with it eventually hopping into the Plaza. Following it leads you to a rabbit burrow with which you can interact, plummeting you directly into the realm.

What follows is a string of events with Alice and the Cheshire Cat, including the former going missing shortly after your first encounter and the latter, in his mischievous fashion, sending you on scavenger hunts to find his smile. You'll find the Cheshire Cat's smiles around the forest, particularly in the areas connected to his starting spot.

After finding the Cheshire Cat's smiles, he'll tell you about an item known as More Time. Making this requires collecting several ingredients, all of which you'll find around the realm inside pink stumps, boulders, and bushes. Their color makes them stick out compared to the darker, desaturated terrain in the rest of the realm.

Creating More Time and consuming it will let you activate small creatures known as Mome Raths that'll lead you directly to a special portal. Following their directions, you'll eventually make your way to a back corner of the map and a portal that brings you to the Queen's Maze, marking the end of the Wonders of Wonderland quest and the beginning of the Queen's Maze mission.

How to complete The Queen's Maze

Now that you're in the Queen's Maze, it's time to test your pathfinding skills as you continue your search for Alice. You'll quickly learn that various levers around the maze are guarded by playing card guards. Entering their field of vision will teleport you a short distance away, but they have patterns that make them easy to avoid.

There are four total levers you need to find:

  • Lever one: Visible through the metal fence when entering the Queen's Maze. Following the hedges will naturally bring you along this path, with very few branching parts.
  • Lever two: You'll spot this second lever behind a hedge after entering the first gate. Walk through the hedge to access it.
  • Lever three: In the final area, run forward to cut through a hedge, which will lead you directly to the third lever.
  • Lever four: From the third lever's spot, head left and run through another hedge before turning toward a nearby guard. You'll find this final lever behind the playing card guard.

Unlocking the final gate will lead you to a line of guards, including several you need to avoid. Getting past them brings you to Alice, who you'll quickly discover is experiencing a peculiar problem. A quick conversation with her concludes the Queen's Maze quest and begins Teeny, Tiny Problems.

How to complete Teeny, Tiny Problems

Now that you've found Alice, you'll discover her current predicament: she's tiny. Since she's unable to fix it, you decide to ask the Cheshire Cat, who tells you to make a Contrary Perfume. Making this requires taking the following steps:

  • Fish for a jar of hearts in the entrance to the Alice in Wonderland Realm.
  • Talk to the matriarch of the Singing Flowers in the middle of the Wonderland forest.
  • Find a mushroom who's feeling blue.
  • Find the curious Pencil Bird.

Most of these are accessible at or near the realm's entrance, so you won't have to worry about venturing far. Once you have the Contrary Perfume, you can return Alice to her full size before setting it up on a table and shrinking yourself.

After investigating the table and collecting some of the queen's games to use as props, you'll arrange everything to make locating cage keys easier. There are four cage keys in the following locations:

  • Key One: Inside a pink teacup near spawn. Break the brown ceramic to access it through fishing.
  • Key Two: Atop a pile of dice near spawn.
  • Key Three: Inside a sugar cube pile near the second key’s location.
  • Key Four: Inside a pink cupcake. Use your royal shovel to access it.

Returning all four keys to Alice lets her open the cages, allowing the animals to escape. Unfortunately, this means the garden is now a mess. This exchange wraps up the Teeny, Tiny Problems quest, leading directly into your final mission, Leaving Wonderlands.

How to complete Leaving Wonderlands

It's time to wrap things up in the Alice in Wonderland realm. Your first task before leaving is to transform the nearby rose trees into red roses, clean up the dirt around the garden, and pick up broken plate pieces. All of this helps restore the garden, making Alice relieved.

While your initial plan was to return to Dreamlight Valley, you and Alice will quickly realize that you don't know how to escape from the rabbit hole you fell into. While asking the Cheshire Cat for help, he'll tell you to activate some glowing mushrooms in a roundabout way. The main hint he gives is that there's one mushroom for him and Alice, revealing that Pink and Blue are the correct answers.

Now that you've activated both mushrooms, you and Alice will discover a small realm door. Using the Contrary Perfume from earlier, you can both resize it, letting you exit the realm and return to Dreamlight Valley. This exchange leads to you building a house for Alice, officially unlocking her as a Disney Dreamlight Valley character for the rest of your playthrough.
