I need help making a faux cabinet to cover file cabinets

We have two filing cabinets in my breakfast nook beside a baker’s rack. This is a fairly small house and I really don’t have anywhere else to put them. I would like to make a simple (stress on simple) “cabinet” that fits over top of them, but a bit wider and tall enough so the top is the same height as the baker’s rack shelf. My husband is all about “duty, not beauty”, but I hate the utilitarian look in there now. Lightweight would be perfect but I would like to be able to put 5-10 pounds of stuff on the top. Something light enough to easily pick up and move when needed. I considered building a frame and using shiplap or something similar for the sides and door fronts. Ideas, pictures, any help is welcome! Tia! submitted by /u/Timely-Swim6132 [link] [comments]
