Indianapolis is hot right now. In fact, the Midwestern city snagged a spot on TPG’s list of the best places in travel in 2025 thanks to a slew of exciting happenings: the April reopening of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, the WNBA All-Star Game in July and the 100th anniversary of the world’s largest children museum.

Now, there’s an incredible new hotel to call home on your next visit: the InterContinental Indianapolis, located downtown.

One of the most exciting hotel openings of the year, this InterContinental is the first luxury hotel opening in Indiana’s capital in over two decades. But the 170-room hotel was well worth the wait, especially considering the fact that the 100-year-old, 11-story building just underwent a $120 million renovation and restoration process to bring it back to life.

Throughout the hotel, visitors will find touches of the building’s past married with modern design and “wow” moments like a three-story chandelier, newly commissioned Indiana-themed art and public spaces filled with Italian marble.

Rooms feature Black Label Beautyrest mattresses, Byredo bathroom products, Nespresso machines, wet bars and city views. The hotel also has an impressive penthouse suite with awesome views of the city’s skyline.

Astrea Rooftop Bar, described as a “jewel box” with indoor and outdoor spaces, is sure to become a staple of Indy’s bar scene. The bar offers creative cocktails and Asian-Mediterranean fusion small plates (think: oysters and steam buns) alongside weekend DJ sets. For a special cocktail moment, consider ordering the Monument G&T to sip while looking down at the imposing Monument Circle, or the Cardinal Crown, named in honor of the state bird.

The hotel’s restaurant, Serliana, found on the second floor, is led by chef Craig Baker and open for three meals daily. Guests can enjoy a range of dishes, from freshly made biscuit sandwiches to pork tenderloin sandwiches and lobster rolls.

There’s also the tried-and-true room service option — because sometimes the best place to eat is in bed.
