need help with a diy plushie

hello DIY community,I’ve already seen some really amazing creations by some very talented people on this subreddit who i think might help me with my problem I’ve seen this lingsha plush all over the internet (the 1st pic) and I wanted to try a diy version which i will eventually gift to my bf.Unfortunately or Fortunately it’s not my first attempt at making something similar as I already made a madoka plushie which i’m really disappointed about.(2nd pic) I think that the the issue was about the materials I’ve used (mostly felt) which was really impractical imo and hard to bend. Some people recommend (I’ve seen some other diy anime plushies on youtube) using minky (which i’ve never heard of) but i have no clue what to buy I need some suggestions.Thank you in advance to whoever takes time to answer my post
