New GTA 6 trailer drops with a year left to go before release

Rockstar Games revealed a new look at Grand Theft Auto 6 on Tuesday with the highly anticipated game’s second trailer. It’s our first new look at GTA 6 in nearly a year and a half, and it reaffirms Rockstar’s commitment to launching its grand, open-world crime adventure … eventually, in 2026.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is the first brand-new GTA game in more than a decade, and expectations for it are high — the game’s predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5, has sold more than 200 million copies since its debut on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. The sixth mainline game in Rockstar’s 27-year-old franchise takes the series back to Vice City, in the fictional state of Leonida, where dual protagonists Jason and Lucia seek a better life. To do so, players will commit heists, hijackings, and other hijinks in a modern-day context, not the stylized ’80s version of Vice City explored in previous Grand Theft Auto games.

Rockstar plans to release Grand Theft Auto 6 on May 26, 2026.
