New House, New Smoke/CO detectors

Me and my wife just bought a new house, and our inspector recommended changing out the smoke detectors ASAP, as they are hella outdated. So we bought new ones with CO detection as well, and I’m getting ready to install I noticed the connector to the house is different on the new ones compared to the old ones. I’m not super skilled in terms of electrics, so wanted to ask some advice. I need to replace the yellow/black/white trio with the new red/black/white trio. Obviously first step is turn off power, but beyond that I’m stumped. Is it what it looks like, a game of color matching (and replacing yellow with red)? Is there more to it? Should I just hire an expert rather than try and do it myself? submitted by /u/MrBones_Gravestone [link] [comments]
