Esports tournament organiser PGL has entered into a two-year partnership with Cyprus-based online gambling company 1xBet.
As a result of the deal, 1xBet has become PGL’s exclusive betting partner for its Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 events until the end of 2026.
According to a release, PGL‘s partnership with 1xBet includes broadcasting rights for the bookmaker, enabling it to broadcast live matches on its own platform.
In addition, the deal will see 1xBet sponsor events operated by PGL, beginning with its Counter-Strike 2 tournament taking place in Cluj-Napoca, Romania from February 14th, 2025. Specifically, 1xBet will advertise during event broadcasts along have its logo integrated into the streams.
“The esports community is fundamental to us, and partnering with PGL is one way for us to reach out and support that community directly,” commented a representative from 1xBet in the announcement.
“We put on tournaments together to help esports reach new people worldwide and share what makes it so cool. That’s key to making esports truly global.”
1xBet is no stranger to the esports industry. Last year alone it partnered with the likes of Bestia and OG Esports to collaborate on a range of initiatives.
This also isn’t the first time PGL and 1xBet have joined forces. For 2024’s PGL Copenhagen Major, the two parties partnered with the betting company becoming the ‘main partner’ of the event.
1xBet has also collaborated with several event organisers on similar partnerships. In 2023, it partnered with Skyesports to sponsor the Skyesports Masters, an Indian Counter-Strike league that uses a franchise model.
For PGL, 2025’s announcements have included detailing its world-class esports events and planning for the future. After revealing plans to hold a tournament in Kraków, Poland in 2027 earlier this week, PGL announced the planned event is cancelled and is seeking a new venue to host its tournament planned for early January.
