Rotten porch posts fix
Hello, the contractor who installed my back patio covering used untreated lumber as decorative covers over the treated, weight-bearing posts. I am removing the lowest foot or so of rotted boards in order to replace with treated lumber since it's in contact with the ground. I plan to paint the underside of the untreated boards that I am leaving, probably with killz I guess, to keep moisture from picking up. I also plan to caulk and paint when finished. My question is, will that work? And the main support, even though it is treated lumber, is damp and in some places looks a little moldy. Is there some anti-mold or anti-rot stuff I can apply before I cover it up? Thanks! submitted by /u/TheJermster [link] [comments]
