Shadows on the Wall quest walkthrough in Disney Dreamlight Valley
At long last, it's time to venture into Disney Dreamlight Valley's Skull Rock and uncover its secrets. While we've had time to speculate what might be lurking within it, we can now officially confirm exactly what and who lives inside by completing the Shadows on the Wall quest. The mission's first objective prompts you to visit Skull Rock, a structure in the southeastern part of Dazzle Beach. Investigate Skull Rock for clues After entering Skull Rock with The Forgotten, you'll notice a mysterious shadow flying around. With both of you slightly confused about what this is, you decide to search for clues. Screenshot by Destructoid While you'll find all kinds of hidden treasure containing ingots and gems, the clue you're looking for is a dig spot next to a gate containing a broken lantern. Use your shovel on this spot to claim the lantern before showing it to The Forgotten. Now that you know of the lantern's existence, it's time to find more and repair them. Find and repair the broken lanterns You and the Forgotten will quickly realize there are more lanterns to find within Skull Rock. Overall, you'll need the following resources to repair them and progress the Shadows on the Wall quest: Broken lanterns (3) Gold Ingot (3) Glass (9) Vitalys Crystal (9) Pixie Dust Orbs (3) First is the remaining two broken lanterns. You already have one, with the other two sitting in the water on Skull Rock's bottom floor. Head back down the cave's ramp to find two orange fishing spots in the water next to a pirate ship. Fish out of both these spots to find your lanterns. Next, you'll need gold ingots and glass. You can find both of these from Kristoff's stall or by crafting using gold nuggets and sand, respectively. You can acquire sand by digging in Dazzle Beach, while gold nuggets come from mineral rocks in the Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights, and the Forgotten Lands. Similarly, you can find Vitalys Crystals by mining in the Sunlit Plateau's mineshaft. Screenshot by Destructoid Last but not least are Pixie Dust Orbs, which you can find around Dreamlight Valley. They appear as bright, glowing orbs around your village. I found mine in the following locations: On a bridge in the Forest of Valor On a bridge in the Glade of Trust In front of a pond in the Forgotten Lands If you don't find them in these locations, you'll need to travel around your village until you spot them lingering in the air. They'll fly away as you approach them, so eat enough food to enable sprinting so you can chase after them. Screenshot by Destructoid With every resource on hand, go to any crafting station, navigate to Functional Items, and craft the Pixie Dust Lanterns before returning to Skull Rock. Look for and trap the strange shadow After attaching all three lanterns to the rope winches near The Forgotten, it's time to start a puzzle to find the mysterious shadow person. Rotate any of the three winches until the light hits the wooden plank walls until you notice the shadow person briefly fly by. Doing this prompts your next objective: trapping them. Screenshot by Destructoid Your goal when trapping the shadow is to shine all three lantern lights on one spot. The best place to do this is directly right of the Forgotten. Otherwise, some lanterns will point directly at a wall next to them, making their lights too concentrated. Likewise, directing them into the distance makes their light too dim. The image above shows the exact spot where you need to direct each lantern. After rotating each lantern, you'll meet the shadow person, who you quickly realize is unable to move or speak. Following this brief conversation, you'll need to rotate one of the lanterns until its light hits the gate next to one of the winches. I used the lantern on the far wall near The Forgotten to do this. Talk to the Jade Skulls Before you can conclude the Shadows on the Wall quest, you'll need to have one last conversation with some nearby Jade Skulls.
