Taylor Swift Reveals ‘Reputation (Taylor's Version)’ in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 6

Taylor Swift just dropped the first taste of Reputation (Taylor’s Version)—and she did it in a major way. A re-recorded version of her 2017 hit “Look What You Made Me Do” played almost in full during the newest episode of The Handmaid’s Tale, which aired Monday night on Hulu. The track soundtracks a pivotal opening scene in which the handmaids, led by June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss), rise up against the Commanders. Explosions, resistance, and Swift’s new vocals set the tone.

According to Billboard, Handmaid’s Tale star and executive producer Moss said getting a Swift song on the show has been years in the making. “I’ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years,” Moss told the publication. “We finally found the perfect spot for a track from her, and I’m so glad we waited.”

This new version of the song recreates the edgy beat and mood of the original production, but with a noticeable edge—older, more controlled vocals from Swift, signaling a more seasoned take on one of her most defiant, talked-about tracks. It’s our first real glimpse at what Reputation (Taylor’s Version) is going to sound like—and spoiler: it's amazing.

See the scene and listen to the re-recording below.

Using a track from Reputation for the rebellion scene in The Handmaid’s Tale couldn’t be more fitting. The album is all about Swift reclaiming her narrative—fighting back against public scrutiny, embracing her power, and owning her identity. Those same themes of resistance, resilience, and female empowerment align seamlessly with the show’s message, making the moment feel all the more impactful.

With the re-recording debuting only through the show—and not yet available on streaming platforms—Swift is keeping fans guessing. Is she teasing us with a slow rollout, making us wait just a little longer? Or is this a strategic hint that Reputation (Taylor’s Version) is closer than we think?  Has the new era of Reputation officially begun?
