Stellar Blade developer Shift Up subtly revealed it’s developing a sequel to its 2024 hit, and it might launch surprisingly soon.
As part of an investor report published May 16, Shift Up included a slide showcasing its plans for the next couple years (via IGN). “Platform Expansion” is listed under Stellar Blade, and it’s reasonable to assume this is referring to the PC port due out next month. The eye-catching note is “Sequel,” essentially confirming Shift Up is working a on Stellar Blade 2. Because the chart is showing Shift Up’s projects from 2024 to 2027 and based on the placement of “Sequel,” we can reasonably surmise the developer is targeting 2026 for a sequel to Stellar Blade.
The first game came out just over a year ago, and a two-year turnaround on a sequel would be almost unheard of for a Sony first-party game in recent console generations. For example, four years passed between 2018’s God of War and its sequel and five years between Horizon games.
