The Sunrise on the Reaping: Collector's Edition Was Just Announced and Amazon Already Discounted It

Suzanne Collin's latest Hunger Games novel Sunrise on the Reaping is officially getting a collector's edition, which is coming out November 4, 2025 according to the press release. It's available for preorder on Amazon and Barnes and noble right now, but Amazon is already offering a 5% discount if you preorder now. The novel was first released back in March of this year and is another prequel to the original Hunger Games trilogy. It follows Katniss Everdeen's mentor Haymitch Abernathy during the 50th Hunger Games, where he emerged as one of the only victors from District Twelve.

This 400-page collector's edition of the bestselling novel features a gorgeous new hardcover art, vibrant gold and purple metallic textured details, and stained paper edges. I almost wouldn't even want to touch it, that's how pretty this version looks. Taking place after the Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and before the first Hunger Games novel, the 50th Hunger Games celebrates the Quarter Quell by reaping twice as many tributes from each of Panem's twelve districts than usual. Haymitch Abernathy of Disctrict Twelve (Hunger Games trilogy fans know him as Katniss Everdeen's Mentor) is one of the four unlucky children to have their name called out to survive and fight to the death against 23 others.
Like the Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Sunrise on the Reaping is getting a film adaptation that is set to release in theaters November 20, 2026. Casting news has been slowly trickling in over the last few weeks, with Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter, Conclave) set to portray President Coriolanus Snow. The role was previously held by Donald Sutherland (Pride & Prejudice, Invasion of the Body Snatchers) in the first four Hunger Games films and Tom Blyth (Billy the Kid) in the Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
