Tiles suddenly fell off a newly tiled wall. Need advice
Need some advice. We had a bit of a surprise today when a section of tiles fell off of a recently tiled wall. About 4/5 months ago we had someone come and re-tile a bathroom wall. It’s not a structural wall, just a typical plasterboard/wood/timber wall. The tiles we used are also a fairly standard size (1cm thick, 15cmx15cm height/width). I believe the tiler used a standard tile concrete and mix to stick them to the wall. We have since reached out to the tiler and he’s advised that since the falling tiles all fell off of one particular section that is actually a wooden door section, he reckons if he was to come back and put them back on, they will likely fall off again. So doesn’t think he should come back…. I should point out – this “wooden door section” is made of the same material as the rest of the wall and since his installation has not been opened even once. I feel he has simply performed a poor job installation and perhaps used the wrong adhesive material. I have never heard of tiles falling off a wooden surface like this. I would appreciate any/all feedback and advice here. submitted by /u/LongFundamental [link] [comments]
