Warfare Hits Digital Less Than Four Weeks After Releasing in Theaters
A24's Warfare is available to watch at home less than a month after arriving in U.S. theaters.
Director Alex Garland is best known for his sci-fi-leaning horror movies (Annihilation, Ex Machina, and the screenplay for 28 Days Later), though last year’s Civil War certainly seems a fitting bridge to the hyper-realistic horror of Warfare. Ray Mendoza's experiences serving as a Navy SEAL during the Iraq War form the basis of the film, which Eric Goldman’s Warfare review describes as "evoking feelings of dread and terror usually reserved for the darkest horror movies.”
Despite a cast featuring plenty of familiar faces, including Cosmo Jarvis (Shogun), Charles Melton (Riverdale), and Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), Warfare isn’t meant to be an easy watch. Depending on your inclinations, that may be all the reason to make a trip to the theaters or to watch this one in the comfort of your own home. If you're part of the latter group, I have some good news: Less than four weeks after its initial release in theaters, Warfare is available on demand.
How to Watch Warfare Online
Warfare just arrived on digital platforms like Prime Video. The movie is also still showing in theaters. Warfare’s arrival on PVOD comes less than four weeks after the movie’s initial release in theaters on April 11.
Warfare Streaming Release Date
Warfare will eventually stream on Max because of a licensing agreement between A24 and Warner Bros. Recent A24 movies, like Heretic and Y2K, landed on the streaming service around four months after arriving in theaters. Assuming a similar timeline, Warfare should be available to stream on Max by mid-September.
What About the Physical Release?
Preorders are live for Warfare in 4K. The A24 website mentions that the release is expected to ship this summer, but an official release date is still up in the air. What we do know for sure are what special features are included in the physical release:
