Earning Mileage Plan miles
One of the best ways to earn Alaska Airlines miles is with the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card. Right now, new cardholders can earn 70,000 bonus miles plus Alaska’s Companion Fare ($99 fare, plus taxes and fees from $23) after making $3,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of opening an account.
Or, with the Alaska Airlines Visa® Business card, you can get 70,000 bonus miles and the Companion Fare ($99 fare, plus taxes and fees from $23) after making $4,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of opening your account.
Notably, Bilt Rewards added Alaska Airlines as a transfer partner, allowing you to transfer points earned on purchases with the Bilt Mastercard® (see rates and fees), including your monthly rent (up to 100,000 points per calendar year), to Mileage Plan at a 1:1 ratio. Cardholders must use the card five times each statement period to earn points (see rewards and benefits).
Bottom line
Alaska’s latest Global Getaways promotion has discounted redemptions to interesting destinations across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Booking premium economy Down Under to Sydney for just 40,000 miles is terrific value.
While the travel window and the restriction that travel must commence in the United States are limiting, there are still good deals to be had. Remember to book by April 11, 2025, to take advantage of this offer.
