For content creators looking to elevate their video production without breaking the bank, the Neewer DL400 motorized camera dolly is quickly becoming a go-to tool for achieving smooth, cinematic motion. Compact, capable and currently priced at an affordable $189 on Amazon, the DL400 provides impressive functionality in a small package. Designed for versatility, the DL400 supports cameras weighing up to 6.6 pounds. Whether you’re using a mirrorless setup, DSLR, action camera or smartphone, this motorized dolly delivers stable movement on a variety of surfaces. Its dual-motor drive system is ultra-quiet, operating at under 30 decibels, making it ideal for capturing professional footage without disruptive motor noise. The DL400 can travel in a straight line or rotate around a subject at angles up to 30 degrees, giving creators the flexibility to shoot dynamic product videos, interviews or b-roll footage with ease. Its non-slip rubber wheels ensure a smooth ride while minimizing vibration and unwanted movement. While the physical controls on the dolly itself are straightforward and user-friendly, the accompanying mobile app takes functionality to the next level. Pairing the dolly with the app is quick and seamless, and it opens up features like directional control, speed adjustments and programmable movement paths. One of the standout features is the A to B mode, which allows users to set start and end points for automated travel. The dolly can even loop that movement, making it ideal for repeated takes or time-lapse work. The A to B mode offers two speed options—constant and slow. While the constant speed setting gets the job done, many users prefer the slow mode for its smoother stops, which help reduce camera shake. Some users may initially find the A to B feature a bit confusing due to the lack of detailed instructions, but a little hands-on experimentation goes a long way. Another valuable feature is the built-in 2.5mm shutter release port. With the right cable, users can trigger photo captures, time-lapses or video recording remotely. However, Neewer does not include a cable in the package, so users will need to purchase one specific to their camera model. The dolly comes with a range of accessories including a small ball head for lightweight setups, a smartphone holder and a GoPro mount. It features a standard 1/4-inch screw mount, which works well for most compact rigs. However, photographers and videographers using heavier tripod heads may prefer a 3/8-inch mount. A simple adapter can be purchased for just a few dollars, solving that issue quickly. If you’d like to see the Neewer DL400 in action, I’ve put together a hands-on video demonstration in the video above. Physically, the DL400 measures 9 x 6.9 x 2.6 inches and weighs just 3.75 pounds, making it easy to transport and integrate into almost any shooting setup. The full kit includes the motorized dolly, an NP-F750 replacement battery, a USB Type-C charging cable, and all mounting accessories.
