Appliance Dryer: Off but feels hot to the touch
Hi there, I have here a Kenmore 80 series appliance dryer that I’m experiencing something strange here. When I plug in this gas dryer, and do NOT turn on, I feel it get really hot to the touch. I never noticed it get hot like this, let alone with it just sitting there, just plugged in and doing “nothing”. Previously, the dryer would not turn on, I could confirm it was getting power because hitting the “start” button in the “Off” mode would make an audible alert noise. It also felt hot to the touch even when it was never running at all that day. Short story, I replaced the thermal fuse after a YouTube video suggested that could be it. That indeed fixed the starting issue where it now turns on when I start it. Great! But the problem now is it still gets hot just sitting there not being used. Anyone have any ideas or come across this before? I’m going to start with unplugging it and taking it apart further and check for lint/blockage. It’s interesting because it gets hot pretty quickly after plugging it in and it’s only been 5 minutes plugged in. submitted by /u/airwavestonight [link] [comments]
