are these joists suitable for creating an attic?
I was just doing prelim research and want to use some of the space above my garage for storage. I had really just planned on adding an attic ladder and then hauling up some plywood sheets. I don't plan to be up there much. The only access currently is via a ladder into a small 2x2 "hatch" via the store-room on the side of the garage. There's no center support and this garage is like 24x24 IIRC. I HAVE seen cracks in the ceiling drywall before and had them repaired. That's with ZERO traffic up there. But that could easily have been started via roof leak or just due to the age (house built in 1989). https://preview.redd.it/f65ha59o6p7f1.png?width=1780&format=png&auto=webp&s=75704216756ea6b7cf9db6b088fe4ca91145079d https://preview.redd.it/n79cb06p6p7f1.png?width=2123&format=png&auto=webp&s=c0e62bddd22d7fb8f1d91c8ef83953b186254824 submitted by /u/UrbyTuesday [link] [comments]
