Bode Opens a Grand Paris Flagship

Bode officially has roots in Paris.Designer Emily Adams Bode Aujla has opened the doors to her first-ever store location outside of the United States: a massive, 2,500-square-foot outpost on the French capital's rue de Valois. The location, which once operated as a restaurant, looks over the Ministry of Culture and neighbors Rick Owens' Paris flagship. Bode, who already operates four retail stores in New York and another in Los Angeles, said Paris was "the natural next step," per WWD.Where Bode's New York stores are separsted by product categoryies (the brand has individual stores for its men's, women's and children's offerings), the LVMH Prize and two-time CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year winner found it important to house all of its items under one roof abroad. “Going into a new market, we really wanted to be able to have it all together under one base,” she said. View this post on Instagram A post shared by BODE (@bode)The store's design was led by Bode Aujla's husband, Aaron Aujla, who runs his own design firm, Green River Project. Notably, the interior concept was inspired by the couple's shared love for fly fishing, hence the bamboo fishing rod that welcomes guests above the shop's main archway and the lures that act as wall coverings. Elsewhere, the shop houses seating made with the same French silk textiles found in the brand's shirts and ceilings covered in an identical English waxed cotton to the label's coats.“We have enough of a footing through our retail partners overseas that we know that there’s interest,” Bode said of the brand's international retail expansion. “I’m a firm believer in retail and what that can do for business.
