Finally got used to Destiny 2’s systems? Well, get ready for yet another overhaul to everything with The Edge of Fate
The Destiny franchise could basically have its own Eras Tour like Taylor Swift after all of the different reworks and overhauls it's gone through, but the upcoming The Edge of Fate DLC may feature the most dramatic changes yet. It seems like every season in Destiny 2 features a reinvention of some kind, but The Edge of Fate is aiming to be a re-entry point or new entry point for players across the world as Bungie is making tweaks to seemingly every facet of the game, including its front-end with what it's calling The Portal. Image via Bungie Without even getting into the whole angle of The Edge of Fate marking the beginning of a new story saga in the franchise, it sounds like the game as we know it may be changing. The Portal divides the game into several categories, like Solo Ops for lone wolf players. But there's also Fireteam Ops, Pinnacle Ops, and Crucible (PvP) Ops, which will hopefully make things easier and more accessible for players to jump into the game which has been notoriously confusing to figure out at times...and that is in part due to how often the game faces reworks such as this. Speaking of reworks, Armor 3.0 will change how gear is equipped with set bonuses, reworked statistics, and more, which is the biggest change to the system in several years since Armor 2.0 came out with the Shadowkeep expansion in 2019. Get ready to re-learn how to put on your boots, buddy! The Edge of Fate will also bring 50 new gameplay Modifiers, five different tiers of gear for better stats, perks, and more bonuses than the previous tiers, so there will be quite a bit more new and different systems for gamers to get accustomed to this July. Even the way DLCs are being delivered is changing with The Edge of Fate, which marks the beginning of every year, featuring two smaller DLCs as opposed to one large one like The Final Shape. After Edge of Fate, the Star Wars-themed Renegades drops on Dec. 2, but we'll see major updates in between the expansions as well. Screenshot by Destructoid Other additions in The Edge of Fate include a Firing Range for players to test out gear, a new combat vehicle to take your Sparrow slot called the Gryphon, and way more to look forward to in the future of the looter shooter RPG. A lot of these changes sound pretty awesome, but inevitably overwhelming. This is a lot to take in, so hopefully Bungie will trickle some more detailed explanations about how everything will change ahead of The Edge of Fate's launch on July 15.
