Gas Range Help - Replaced shorted igniter, now oven won't turn off as expected.
I have a Whirlpool GW397LXUS06 gas range that tripped the breaker. Inspection determined that the bake igniter had shorted to chassis. I ordered and installed a new direct replacement ignitor. As soon as I plugged the unit back in, the gas solenoid opened and the igniter turns on and lights burners. This is without any input on the control panel and it wouldn't turn off until unplugged again. After letting it sit a bit, I plugged back in and this time it did not auto ignite, but once I set a temp, say 200, it will start as expected but won't turn off and will shoot past the desired temp and keep going. Besides unplugging it, I was able to get it to stop be turning on the broiler which uses a separate igniter. Presumably something else was blown when it originally shorted. Am I hosed? submitted by /u/GreyEternal [link] [comments]
